Letran College coach Allen Ricardo is thrilled to see Jimboy Estrada regaining his form to power them to back-to-back wins in Season 101 National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament.
Ricardo said Estrada’s return to his deadly form is the outcome of the hard work, sacrifices and dedication he put in to help them secure their first two wins after three consecutive losses.
“I know his capabilities and I have huge trust in him, that is why I’m happy that even just in his body language, I can see the fire and eagerness from him,” Ricardo said, referring to the sophomore guard.
After struggling with flu and stomach issues in their fist four assignments, the former Saint Claire College star displayed his impressive form on Wednesday to help the Knights torch erstwhile unbeaten University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, 63-56.
Estrada said his fine performance is the result of the promise he made to his teammates.
“I vowed to myself and my teammates that I will bounce back,” said Estrada, who finished with a game-high 23 points with eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals against the Altas.
But Estrada said the battle is still far from over and they are willing to go all out in their coming matches, starting against Lyceum of the Philippines University on Saturday.
“We still have more to show. We just need to be patient so we can reach our best form,” he said.
