OHEB disputes Team Liquid’s ‘AWOL’ claim image

The camp of Kiel “OHEB” Soriano has pushed back against recent statements made by Team Liquid PH, maintaining that the veteran gold laner formally resigned and did not abandon communication as alleged.

Calleja Law, counsel for OHEB, clarified that the player officially submitted his resignation on February 6, 2026, contrary to claims that he had suddenly gone silent.

“Let us be clear. Mr. Kiel Calvin ‘Oheb’ Soriano formally communicated his resignation on 06 February 2026. The claim that he ‘disappeared’ or failed to communicate is inaccurate,” the law firm’s statement read.

The law firm added that from the time of his resignation, OHEB has been represented by legal counsel, with proper channels for discussion remaining open.

“Public statements are not a substitute for direct engagement,” Calleja Law emphasized, signaling its preference to handle the matter privately.

The camp also downplayed assertions that OHEB’s departure significantly disrupted Team Liquid PH’s campaign in the MPL Philippines Season 17, noting that the team was able to proceed without delay and even post competitive results.

“We also note that Team Liquid Philippines was able to continue its participation in the season without delay and even achieve competitive success. Any assertion of disruption must be viewed in light of these facts,” the statement added.

Calleja Law further underscored that OHEB had deliberately chosen not to address the situation publicly out of respect, a stance it said should not be misconstrued.

“Mr. Soriano chose restraint. He did not go public. He did not engage in accusations. That was a deliberate decision out of respect. We will not allow that restraint to be mischaracterized.”

While refraining from detailing specific contractual issues, the firm hinted that broader concerns—including fairness, proportionality, and the professional treatment of players—would be scrutinized in the appropriate legal forum.

“This is not only about one player. It reflects broader concerns within the esports industry, particularly on the need for fair and balanced arrangements for professional players.”

OHEB, who has since transitioned to Honor of Kings, “stands on what is fair and right as a professional player,” according to his counsel, and reserves the right to pursue lawful opportunities.

With the dispute now within legal channels, Calleja Law said it remains open to engaging with Team Liquid PH toward a constructive resolution.
